LINEAGE OS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed.LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.



Download Lineage OS 14.1 for Galaxy S3


Follow this if you are flashing Lineage OS 14.1 for Galaxy S3  for the first time, or coming from another ROM:

Before starting

– Try to avoid restoring apps backup using Titanium Backup. It may break things up.

– Don’t restore system data using Titanium Backup! It will definitely break the current installation.

– It is also discouraged to Restoring Apps + Data using Titanium Backup.

How to install Lineage OS 14.1 on Galaxy S3 


1. Download and Copy the GApps for lineage os and Galaxy S3  Lineage 14.1 ROM ZIP to your phone.

2. Boot into Recovery. Make sure to have a Custom recovery like CWM or TWRP or any other custom recovery.

3. Wipe data factory reset, Cache partition, Dalvik Cache and Format the System partition.

This will delete all your data on your phone. You may consider complete backup of your phone data or take a NANDROID backup of the current ROM

4. First flash the Galaxy S3  Lineage os14.1 ROM ZIP from device. Then flash the GApps zip from your device memory.

5. Then reboot into recovery (don’t skip this) and flash the Lineage 14.1 Nougat GApps package.

6. Reboot and Enjoy the Nougat 7.1 Lineage 14.1 ROM for Galaxy S3 


Upgrading from earlier version of Lineage OS 14.1 forGalaxy S3 


1. Copy the latest Galaxy S3  Lineage rom14.1 ROM ZIP file to your phone.

2. Boot into Recovery.

3. Flash the latest lineage ROM ZIP from your phone.

4. Then flash the Lineage 14.1 Nougat GApps package.

5. Reboot and Enjoy

Complete the initial setup and enjoy Android Nougat 7.1 with Lineage 14.1 for Galaxy S3

    I Installed lineage-14.1-20170109-UNOFFICIAL-i9300.zip and have a problem with included file manager app:
    FileManager is complaining when reading from sdcard. It tells me that "This operation requires elevated permissions".
    But in file manager settings/general settings/access mode "root access mode" is selected. how can this be fixed?

    I downloaded & Installed lineage-14.1-20170107-UNOFFICIAL-i9300.zip on my samsung galaxy s3 mobile phone and i saw some bugs on it such as:

    1- i Used the latest "ampre v2.04.6 beta" android application to Measuring the output current of my charger, and the temperature of battery but But it failed to calculate the correct amount and the actual current output of the charger!!! While the experiment worked fine on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow !!!
    and also "ampre v2.04.6 beta" failed to detect temperature of The battery!!! (allways shows a virtual value = 30 Celsius) and I think this is so harmful, When the battery temperature is high and more than the allowed amount, if the battery charging operation is not stopped by the operating system [android Lineage 14.1 nougat 7.1.1 OS] , may cause the battery to explode.
    (Automatic stop charging at high and unauthorized temperatures for lithium batteries, is not available on "lineage 14.1 (nougat 7.1.1) OS" )

    2- flashlight turning on is not stable!!! (some times when i Turn ON flashlight and then I Put power button to lock & turn screen off , flashlight turnes off after some seconds)

    3-have a problem with included file manager app:

    4- the camera application couldnt make a stable Sharp focus from selected area from the screen!!! ( and In general, camera app works on very poor performance !!!)

    lineageOS Improving:

    I think it is better to be added the following functionalityes to the ineageOS!!!
    1. different types of restarting (for eg: restart, Soft Restart, Recovery, Bootloader, Restart SystemUI). This feature is available in Products of "crDroidAndroid" & "ResurRection" Custom ROM Developers. And Also And I think if this feature is Added Configurable (active and passive), it is much better.

    2. Adding "UMS" connection mode to "Use USB to" list. UMS mode allows the user to access to The external memory card in the phone as a "USB Mass Storage flash drive". This feature was available in "Android Lollipop version 5.1.1" (Nameless Custom ROM: "nameless-5.1.1-20151107-i9300-NIGHTLY.zip").

    3- I think its better to Add "OmniSwicher" & "Pixel Lancher" Home lunchers to LineagOS.

    Hi! I've installed LineageOS and it's great !
    Here are the bugs I've seen so far :
    - The file manager requires elevated permissions to access some areas of my phone. Even if root access in enabled.
    - The search for mobile networks does not work, I have to stay in automatic mode.

    Lost the root.the root in developer settings (root via adb) is not the same. Is the answer only to flash the super su app in the recovery?

    I installed Lineage os 14.1 on my S3. Most things works fine, but the camera is not found and does not work. Is there anything I can do?

    Successfully install the ROM, it seems to work okay so far (for 3 weeks now i suppose). But only one know issue, whenever i plug in earphones the entire sound/audio system gets disabled (speakers, mics) not even the earphones work, i have to restart the phone to get it back on again. I'm using galaxy S3 I747 AT&T.

      I have GT i9300 and have lineage os installed on it! Have you read carefully HOW TO install? for example, wiped also system? Or reboot recovery after installing the zip but BEFORE to install the Gapps?
